At Schaeffler, we understand the importance of beginning your career with the best introduction possible. All new employees receive training on topics ranging from company guidelines, product knowledge, and on specific processes used on the job. Our “Learning Lab” concept includes hands-on simulation that is specific to our Schaeffler environment. In North America, apprenticeship programs are established in Cheraw, South Carolina; Fort Mill, South Carolina; and Wooster, Ohio. Each program is uniquely designed to support technical careers in fields such as Tool and Die, Maintenance, and CNC Planning. Cooperative Education (Co-op) Program
The Co-op program is designed to give full-time college students hands-on experience and employment in Schaeffler. While most positions are for BSME majors, we also employ students in areas such as Finance, Human Resources and Administrative positions. Group Engineer Program
This regional program is designed to support the future needs of Schaeffler Production, Research and Development, and Sales. Candidates have a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, with priority given to prior Schaeffler co-op experience. During the program, the Group Engineer will rotate through different locations/departments throughout the North American region, with the possibility of a rotation in Germany. Central Management Program (CMP)
The objective of the Central Management Program (CMP) is to apply tools and methods for the own area of responsibility within the matrix organization and to recognize the own influence on the corporate strategy. Furthermore, the CMP provides valuable insights into “operational excellence” of Schaeffler worldwide and how to drive innovations in own area of responsibility. The participants are also given the opportunity to develop intercultural management with focus on cultures as a concept beyond stereotypes.
The CMP is targeting selected managers who operate in international contexts and work efficiently across cultures.
International Management Program (IMP)
The objective of the International Management Program (IMP) is to develop and implement successfully strategies on market, sector, and portfolio levels. It provides a platform to exchange and apply knowledge on business development. Furthermore, the participants master leading large and complex organizations, bridging markets and organizations, as well as living the matrix (inside Schaeffler) and managing the matrix (outside Schaeffler). The Program also explores different approaches of innovation.
The IMP is targeting selected managers who have significant influence on the organization’s strategy through major business or functional strategic responsibility and are accountable for the implementation of short to midterm business or functional plans.
Schaeffler Academy Leadership Training (SALT)
SALT is a North American customized program for training on leadership topics. In-house instructors lead the participants through a 10 course (80 hour) curriculum aimed at developing and/or strengthening leadership skills. Homework and hands-on simulations enhance the experience as participants explore topics ranging from communications, motivation, conflict resolution and building trust. Employee Development Dialog (EDD)
The employee development dialog (EDD) is an annual feedback discussion between employees and supervisors. In the EDD, the professional and personal requirements that are required for the position are compared with the existing skills of the employee and future developments are discussed. Professional potential can be documented and potential measures for individual development can be agreed upon. Customized Service Packages
There is occasionally an internal or external needs which require training that cannot be met through existing training options. The Schaeffler Academy team offers the necessary support in the area of implementation of training projects.
